The crater is almost 180 kilometers in diameter and is located at the center of the town of Chicxulub in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico..... Its diameter makes it one of the largest impact sites in the World...... The site is a place where a huge asteroid stuck earth some 65 million years ago..... Looking at the date one can speculate the end of the dinosaur era to be attributed to this specific impact site..... True, one of the strongest theories about the end of the Jurassic era is the the Chicxulub crater theory where a large asteroid hit Earth at Chicxulub and led to a wide spread holocaust during which the dinosaurs were wiped out.........
