Gravitational Lensing is the name given to a phenomenon where light bends when it encounters a gravitationally - powerful cosmic object such as a star or a large planet..... This phenomenon occurs due to the bending of the Space - Time continnum by a heavy cosmic object...... This leads to light being refracted in different ways thus giving the observer the illusion of a lens in space.......
